Payment realities in India

Razorpay is the most reliable choice for INR subscriptions on Kajabi or Thinkific. It supports cards, UPI, netbanking, wallets, and the e-mandate flows required for recurring auto-debit. Some auto-renewal edges with GPay still exist — see the gotcha below.

Razorpay auto-renewal can fail on GPay-backed cards
Razorpay's recurring flow works for most card types, but auto-renewal can fail when the buyer's saved card is backed by Google Pay or similar wallet tokenisation under newer RBI rules. If you see renewals failing for a subset of subscribers, check whether the failed cards share that pattern and consider asking those buyers to add a non-tokenised card via the customer portal.

- Do I need a separate Razorpay account?
- Yes. Sign up at Razorpay directly, complete KYC, then paste your live API key into CheckoutJoy. We'll connect it to your Kajabi / Thinkific / Kartra account.
- Can I sell to international buyers at the same time?
- Yes. You can keep Stripe enabled alongside Razorpay (where Stripe is available to you) and CheckoutJoy will show each buyer the right options based on their country and your settings.
- Does CheckoutJoy charge buyers in USD or INR?

- Why not Instamojo for subscriptions?
- Instamojo does not support recurring/subscription billing. It is only suitable for one-off product sales. Use Razorpay for any subscription or payment-plan product.
- What about UPI and netbanking?
- Both are supported through Razorpay. Buyers see UPI, netbanking, cards, and major wallets as payment options at checkout.
